drug home another orphan- 1991 Olds Customer Cruiser $400!

I have been looking for something to do with the parts from my brother's wrecked 94 Caprice 9C1 cop car (rebuilt LT1 and 4L60e, disc brake rear axle) when I came across this 1991 Olds Custom Cruiser on the local Craigslist. Seller originally wanted $800 and I passed. He called me back a week later after no interest and said the salvage yard offered $350. I countered with $400. I later found the Impala SS 17" wheels and tires minus hub caps for $60 (!) and a set of Chevy Venture mini van center caps for $10. The car has 200k miles and a salvage title (hence the Caprice front clip). The TBI 305 is TIRED and has almost no oil pressure at idle, but other than a few dents and dirty interior, the car is solid. Everything works but the AC and pass rear power window. It needs a carpet, and of course the LT1/4L60E and disc rear axle.

I have the stock Olds alloys for sale if anyone is interested. An OEM 90's cap from a Chevy/ GMC truck fits these wheels if looking to lose the Olds rocket logo on these caps.

Only the Olds Custon Cruiser and Buick Roadmaster had the vista roof on the 91-96 cars. Olds were 91-92 only cars.

Photo of the $60 wheels and $10 caps. I actually like the Venture caps better than the original Imp SS caps with the fake nut.

Immediately after the accident (where a guy in a Jeep talking on his cell phone pulled out in front of my brother), we thought we could just replace the front clip. Unfortunately we found that the frame was bent. My brother had to battle with the insurance company to get them to give him more than what a worn out cop car was listed at. Having reciepts for rebuilt engine and trans helped. I believe he got $4000 and bought it back for $500 or so.

I wanted to pick up a Caprice wagon years ago, but couldn't get the cash together before it sold. I always thought they were cool, and an LT1 makes them much cooler!

I got the LT1 pulled out of the 94 Caprice and the TBI 305 out of the Olds this past Thurs and Fri. I sprayed the Olds engine compartment down with Castrol Superclean and hosed it off. Most of the grease came off and I haven't even fired up the power washer! it only needs a litte scraping on the crossmember. I am buying replacement oil cooler lines for the LT1 and will be starting to drop it in this Thurs/ Fri. I pulled the harness off the TBI but will be removing it from the car as well. I plan to keep the TBI set up as well as the serpentine drive to install on a future 67-72 Chevy pickup build. i didn't think to take a photo of the LT1, but I left the harness on it.

This sounds ind of familiar. I set out looking for an LT1 wagon a few weeks ago, and ended up buying a grampa fresh '94 Fleetwood. The second owner added aftermarket sway bars, lower control arms, and Impala SS wheels. I love it, my wife- not as much.

Re: drug home another orphan- 1991 Olds Customer Cruiser $400!

I built a 91 custom cruiser about 10 yrs ago.Moon used to make a roll pan for the caprice wagon that I modified to work on mine.I kept the stock 305 with a fully built 700.Mine had the 3.23 diff with a posi unit.I used the ss sway bars and front springs and ss wheels with olds center caps.I had a 5.7 vortec with f body lt1 cam to go back in it and lost interest. It was a great car and I sometimes miss it.Good luck, they are fun and comfortable cars.
