1965 K20 My Latest Find

I've been anxiously awaiting and it Just arrived this morning ! 1965 K20 ex Fire dept brush fire truck from Western Nebraska. 8791 original mile truck ( I just put 10 more miles on it ) 283 Power brakes , still has 4 of the original tires, all 4 original spiral shocks and 100% of its original paint. Runs and drives excellent. A big THANK YOU to Sodly for looking it over and convincing me to throw in a bid with his pictures and description and test drive. The white 1963 C30 Panel was also found earlier this year about 50 miles from this K20.

Re: 1965 K20 My Latest Find

It almost looks like its set up for a person to stand on the front bumper extension platform and serve as a guard rail.

Re: 1965 K20 My Latest Find

This truck is incredible underneath. I was just crawling around under it and the front axle and tie rod are clean bare steel, not even a hint of rust. Same with the driveshafts. Heres some more pictures. Came with the original 1964 dated title and dealer invoice.

Most are pretty worn out or were never saved, but we are all getting smarter.

It turns over but I smell old gas. No build sheet, may have to do with that particular assembly line. No protecto plate either. The invoice will do !

Tsk tsk tsk! No interior pics, just plain sloppy or lazy?
Custom Seat I'm assuming fabric and vinyl?
Original window ticket is a lucky find.

Had a chance to check the Data book on the seat, option code Z52 is "Full-Depth Foam" not the custom cloth seat cover . My white 65 has the same seat, its just a stiffer seat foam.

Interesting how they deviated from one description to another.

Of course I'm only kidding. Your contributions here are worth more than can be said.
A unique rig like this in true low mile/survivor form represents a big challenge to the serious collector.
Restoration vs preservation vs abstention. Hmmm... Go all out, or do nothing?
I know that a thorough cleaning and detailing with preservation in mind can be almost as difficult and time consuming as a full-blown restoration.
Perhaps a good scrub is all it really needs.
Either way, I'll enjoy any photo updates and progress reports as you have time.
