16.5 x 8.25 6 lug wheels

Picked up these wheels and wondering if these wheels were available from the factory. I'm looking for 60-66 literature, brochures, ect with these wheels.

Looks like they were an option for the 67-72 trucks.

Re: 16.5 x 8.25 6 lug wheels

I cant find anything in the DATA books for 1965-1966 . I haven't yet looked in the parts books or 67 DATA. Heres an old ad that was posted but no date. I have some 8 lugs that were put on a 1961 camper but people are saying 1966 is the first factory usage but so far only 8 lug , no information yet on 6 lug 1960-1966.

GM Part numbers for the 6 lug 16.5X8.25 wheel are 3974204 superseded by second design in 10-71 is 3998539 but everything I read says 1969 and up. Andy , you might look the wheel over for dates to determine what your wheels were from.

Yeah I could not find it in the books either but I know your 1966 K20 was special ordered with 16.5's so maybe these were the same way?

skid steer wheels are similar in assembly.
Your centerbore is how much in diameter.
6 wheel clips on our wheels generally 3.

Sorry, looks like my ad, can't seem to find the magazine for date, however these wheels came out in late 1963 in the aftermarket for 1/2 and 3/4 tons of all makes, when camper craze began. These rims could have been special ordered from '63-'66, as your K 20 indeed was. They were a standard option beginning in 1967. What is interesting is that the manufactures, either Kelsey Hayes, Goodyear or Firestone, used the factory correct 17.5" centers and just rivited on a generic 16'5" wide base drop center rim. In other words, the part the hubcap goes on is a factory piece and has correct offset. Here is a '60 Chevy with them, but, must have been put on at a later date.

I will measure the centerbore tomorrow.
I thought the 6 clips was interesting as well.

Thanks for the info. The centers do look factory. The 60 looks cool with them.

Re: 16.5 x 8.25 6 lug wheels

Forgot to mention, the '60 is indeed a 1/2 ton. These were the period wide wheels before the wide spoke wheels became popular in the 70's.
