Exhaust system for 66 fleetside - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

So my exhaust system currently ends just behind the cab. I love how loud the thing is, but sometimes it gets to be a real pain. In order to extend it I know the pipes need to go around the trailing arms. Is there a specific setup out there I can get, or am I better off having a shop bend some pipes for me?

Get a couple of estimates from exhaust shops and see where you are. They make that work look easy. Its probably the better way to go.

Just have a look at the pipes on rockauto. Buy the over the axle pipe locally, add whatever straight piece and a muffler to connect. Cheap and easy.

Here is a complete exhaust system, but you might have to modify it slightly for an exact fit to your truck.

i bought this system that captain fab quoted , and installed it on my 66 c20 , 350 , headers. you might as well throw away the clamps they supply and get the heavy duty ones at a local auto parts store , unless your gonna weld the whole system up , those clamps are garbage , other than that i had to heat up the tail pipe on the right side and just bend it a little bit for some more clearance . the mufflers sound OK , they don't drown you out while driving. there actually not bad . hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice, my truck is almost exactly as your setup pre-exhaust replacement. Thank you all for the help, I'll probably work on putting that in after tires
