71 C10 Suspension Build for track and street fun

I Just picked up a 71 C10 from Maryland with no rust, newer interior and an 8 year old paint job. Not bad for $2,900 bucks, I think....

Im looking for suspension upgrade ideas to make a fun street truck that will still hook up and run straight at the drag track. Right now the front end is pretty loose and I wont take here over 80+mph.

Ive also read up on here a little bit about the rear trailing arms. I see some guys box the factory ones in and some flip the front trailing arms bracket to change the IC. Anyone got some pics of how the lil mod went and performed after? I was glad to see, My trailing arms are in really good shape.

Engine/Drivedrain - Plans are to go the LSx route, Im thinking LQ4. Haven't made my mind up yet on Carb or FI, ( I do have a stand alone harness and ECU). Looking to make around 400-500rwhp all said and done.

I'm really liking the 4 spd manual NP-440 (A833), and want to keep it manual. Any body running an a NP-440 (A833) 4spd behind a LSx how does it hold up. (I know this isnt the right section for this)

Other than that ive been driving it around "as is" with the SBC and I love it, Nice riding truck. Going to be a fun project

Re: 71 C10 Suspension Build for track and street fun

That's a good looking truck!

There are a few drag guys on here, but most are either cruisers or crazy auto-x guys. My truck won't be crazy auto-x, but I do want it to handle corners as life is less fun in a straight line.

Like my best friend says: "any jackass with enough money can go fast in a straight line".

I hear ya and Ive spent some time in California where auto-x is big, but out here on the North East coast auto-X really isn't that popular. Drifting competitions are starting to pop up around here every now and again.

My GMC Seirra 2500 turbo'd daily driver is a pretty good handling truck. So for this one i want to cater it more twards the drag racing.
