K10 front hub noise
I went to plow my driveway today with my k10. I have a bad noise comming from the passenger side front hub. I had a 72 GMC 4X4 years ago and I am not sure but I seem to remember I needed a special tool to remove the hub. Am I right about this? Can someone post a diagram showing how to remove the hub. Maybe an exploded view. Also a drawing or picture of the tool I need. Thanks everyone for all your help!!

Check the u-joint up there first.

You may need some snap ring pliers. There is a large socket for removing one of the retaining nuts in there. Not sure what it is called. It's nearly 3 inches across and has seferal small tabs that lock into the nut.
Could be a bearing is it's that loud. |

Yeah it's a GM specific castle nut, they're pretty easy to find, and it's easy enough to take that hub apart. Be confident and stay organized.

You can use a dull drift punch to drive both spindle nuts off and on.There`s a lock ring between them with a tab that lines up with the grove in the spindle.

I've done the drift and hammer method for removing this nut, and it is well worth the money to buy the socket. Napa, checker auto zone all have them available.
