Question Is it my heater core?

I have a 68 C10. I noticed antifreeze today under my truck...nice little puddle...popped the hood to see it dripping down from the passenger side firewall...there is a hose running up to a black cover..I assume the heater core is behind it? how hard are they to change...and how hard to find one?

sounds like it....provided neither of your hoses were loose. Not too bad to change, that black box comes off and the heater core is behind it.

Heater core not hard at all to swap. Pick one up at local parts store.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

You'll need to remove the passenger hood hinge and maybe lower the the inner fender if you can't reach the lower bolt closest to the fender.

Heater core was in stock at my local A-Zone.

What I did was took two 2 X 4's, a foam rubber pad, and a ratcheting strap. Put the foam on the roof passenger side, put one end of a 2 X 4 on the roof, the other end supported by the other standing on end, and then used the ratchet strap to support the passenger side of the hood. Tightened the strap pretty snug, then removed the passenger side hood hinge.

** NOTE: This procedure is probably NOT OSHA APPROVED!

The black box has some screws on the bottom that could be a PICKLE! I was fortunate, and appearantly not the first one to remove mine, the bottom screws were not there. I put a little RTV sealant around the edges and it should be fine!
