67-72 lowering & wheel/tire combo

pardon me if this has been asked b4

Have read staying with 6-lug allows option to use 2000 model year and later stock wheels off Yukon, Denali, Silverado, SS, etc. of a wide variety of dia's.

Compared to 73-87 15x8 rallys, don't these 2000/up wheels have major negative offset?

My question is in conjunction with lowering. At what point, when lowering, does the negative offset become necessary? Or does it? Without doing extensive measuring (yet) looks like interference with the inner fender will be an issue w/15x8 rally on my C/10. Guess I'm asking can you go with drop spindles and ignore wheel offset?

Thanks,
John

Re: 67-72 lowering & wheel/tire combo

How much rebuilding of the front suspesnion are you planning on doing?
Just throwing on some spindles and springs?
Or rebuilding eveything while you are at it?

The late model wheels have alot of backspacing to them, so they will be tucked under the fenders quite a bit more than a 15x8 ralley.
Also the late model wheels have a smaller center bore,... so expect to have some machine work done on them to make them fit.
Measure the center hub of your wheels and the large center hub of your rear axles compared to the small bore of the new style (99-up) wheels and you'll see what I'm talking about.
