how do you know what angles to set up your suspension. say if i use c4 or c5 suspension? is there a book that gives you the angle it should be at? im looking to build something from scratch and i will admit im a painter, i love building engines, but i paint every day and i dont have the suspension knowledge. and also about how much in materials is this scratch build frame usually costing everyone??
thanks

well my frame steel is under $200, but im using a dropmember from porterbuilt. The frame is cheap, its everything else thats going to add up quick (like 4 link, bags or coilovers, tubular arms, ect ect.).

Re: how do you know what angle to put your....

The way I started to learn about chassis and suspension was by reading all the books I could fine. I whipped out the VISA and made amazon.com a lot of money! Once I understood the basics and fundamentals I moved from books to software (more money).

Many people just take the factory specs or build a jig off the factory crossmember and then utilize those specs for a retro-fit. Once you really start getting into the geometry and design portion of suspension you'll want some software to tweak the design and make some changes to better suit your wheel-base, trac-width, center of gravity, etc. The software will allow you to make changes and see their effects without any fabrication.
