Re: big block ?

Nope. No factory BBC in a 69-72 K5. In fact, it takes a fair amount of modification to get one in cleanly.

Re: big block ?

454 was not offered in anything for those years. It didn't exist yet (for trucks as Tom clarified).

Re: big block ?

I throw in a BB into my 71 2wd and there's no any modification to be made on it, other than getting a set of BB motor mount and brackets !

No Blazer or Jimmy ever came from the factory with any big block of any displacement. Not ever.

Re: big block ?

The first 454's were offered in the Cevelle, El Camino and Monte Carlo in 1970... they were LS6's... the next car to get it was the corvette in 1972... the first truck was 1973 and it was a smog POS.
No Blazer camme with a BB. If however that is a pre 1973 block, Id snag it just for the motor... YOU "run the numbers" though

You could get a 396/402 in any 68-72 2 wheel drive from the factory. It was the 4x4s it wasn't offered in. You can actually set a big block on the small block mounts.

Re: big block ?

I don't know about the crusher thing. Steel price is still down the last I heard. Last vehicle I took in, which was a stripped burb, I walked out with a check for $25

I'm looking for a fresh motor for my 1970 C-10 2-wheel drive. And there's a 396 BB for sale close by...what all would be entailed in pulling my 350 and installing the 396? Would I need new housing to bolt to the 3-spd?

Run the numbers on what? If the motor's gone, how are you going to run the numbers anyway?

I think the guy is just trying to scam you with something he's heard somewhere. He probably doesn't even know what it means.
