Here is my simple solution to keeping the stock radio + adding some new ability to the truck. There are holes under the dash from the previous owner which I happily re-used! The unit is my Sirius Satellite radio which is able to dock in the garage as well. I can use the audio input from the satellite for my MP3 player as well.

Yes!! The truck is now my only means of transportation! I still have to repair the fuel level gauge/sending unit and some other minor items, but nothing that would keep me from driving the truck.

how does it hook into the factory stereo? is it FM modulated or something like that or is it hardwired?...that's an interesting alternative...

fat hoe - I did a similar install and hardwired mine into the existing radio. You can purchase the kit from Sirius, and all you do is unplug the stock antenna, plug it into the supplied splitter, and plug the splitter into the antenna connection on the existing radio. There is another plug that goes into the Sirius radio and you set one of the presets on your old radio to the Sirius radio.

No static and its worked perfectly since installed 18 months ago

Mine is installed just like 83burban mentioned. I have had this system in 3 different cars over the past 4 years and love it. The FM adapter was around $20.00 which allows the hard wire to the radio. The beauty of it, is that it cancels out any other signal coming into the radio which gives the static free signal. I pay every 3 months and I think (wife pays the bills) its around $40.00 every cycle. I always said I would never pay for radio but I love my Sirius! The biggest perk for getting a docking radio is that I have a dock in the garage for when I work on my projects. It also makes road trips great for commercial free, non station hunting radio. I forget how much the radio itself was as it was a gift from the wife.

The arm is just the arm with the suction cup usually on it for the windshield mount. I don't like the light of the radio in my eyes at night so I always mount it lower on the dash. I removed the suction cup part and flipped the arm upside down on the back of the docking station since its a square bolt pattern. I did a similar mount on one of my last cars.

On this car I bolted the mount through the filler tray on the radio install kit. The satellite radio sat just far enough forward where the flip down face would still allow me to put CD's in.

Here's a shot of my first XM controller right after the install and before I finished the interior. I've since upgraded to a better controller. I LOVE satellite radio! I setup all my vehicles with a base and antenna for the XM controller.

My favorite XM channels...... 7, 11, 48, 49, 121, 166.

Very nicely done S10Fan! I wanted to keep my ash tray available for the future nitrous switches. I like that you can hide your radio when its parked.

Manbearpig - I agree!! I love octane 20. Its perfect for working outside!

this spring im getting the back fire wall done i cant wait get it done so i can start puting the new motor in it and more by the end of summer it should be less 80/90% done i hope,i love your old trucks on here ok guys keep it going on here ok ty you all
