eaton third w/load bolt
if an eaton third member has a load bolt, does that mean it has a locker in it, or is it just that MOST lockers came with load bolts?

I have to disagree Andy. There is no load bolt my 67K-20 w/HO-52. I just went out and checked to be sure. Load bolts do not indicate a locker, it is just an adjustment tool for setting the pinion load.

GM just used what came along on the assembly line I guess. My truck has the HO52 rear with the load bolt, and so does the Suburban I just got. My truck has a locker, not sure about the Suburban though.

The "Load" bolt is to push a bronze plug against the back of the ring gear carrier to , in a manner, keep the gears better in mesh under load. it actualy is set with a slight clearance on proper set up and has nothing at all to do with "setting" the gear mesh. Under load the gears want to open up and this "Load" bolt prevents that.
