I was looking at adding power brakes and power steering to 56 half ton. Was that an option that year in case i have to find a donor truck? I dont know where to start

Re: brakes/steering 56

there are a lot of options for power brakes, some mount a booster to the firewall and hang the pedals, but what I did, and what is much easier is to buy a power brake kit from ebay or a common parts supplier... there are booster kits that bolt to the original spot under the cab. Some even come with a custom made brake pedal for those that do not have the original pedals...

several options for power brakes at that site, may be able to save money by buying on ebay...

I have a firebird subframe that solved my power steering problem... but there are options for the stock setup.

the same supplier, ClassicParts.com has a kit that allows you to use a later model power steering box... but I have no experience with this kit. you might want to further research this link...http://www.classicparts.com/1947-59-...ctinfo/76-977/

there are more than one way to skin this cat however, and some others may be able to lead you in a different direction...
