This thread will be used as a FAQ index for the LSx section. You will notice some of the old stickies in this section went away. Don't worry no info was lost, just re-organized here. Eventually there will be a LSx swap section in the Main board FAQ.

Hi guys, I'm looking for a shop to do an ls swap in a 50 chevy pickup. I'm in Connecticut but I will go to NY Mass Rhode Island.

I searched the thread before asking this...so here goes.
I have an 88' C1500 I want to swap a 5.3 into. Here's my issue. I have a brand new rebuilt 700R4 overdrive that has all the upgraded internals. I know I could easily sell it and find a 4l60(e) and run the factory 5.3/auto harness... but I will eventually be swapping in a T56 6 speed. So for now I want to just swap in the 5.3. I have not found anything that allows you to hook up the detent cable. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is my 2004 Silverado Vortec 5.3 engine about the same as the LS1? I didn't see this question addressed here. It's rated at 295 HP. Thanks. LBJ
