I agree. Sacrafice the easiest and cheapest to get. Are you thinking about keeping the pickup cab or making it open to the bed like a blazer?

I was just curious if it could be done. So it would be easier to do with a LWB?

Re: Is it possible to....?

It's not that it's easier to do with a longbed but rather it would be easier to find a longbed for real cheap.

Explain your thinking more please.

What do you want to start with and what do you hope to end up with?

Your original question is pretty vague.

Anything can be done, it just depends on how much time, mone and skills you've got. Check out what Frizzle Fry made from a burb - http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=239896

Re: Is it possible to....?

I am planing on getting a K5 to conver to 2wd from a member.I was thinking of just using the old frame for measurements and the body mounts and use a 2wd truck frame. If your going to have to cut down the frame anyway, why not use a largely available lwb frame?Thats what I plan to do...

Just simply would it be possible to make this look like an original blazer. Just curious as to what it all would entail, make sense????

Re: Is it possible to....?

You would really have to have your mind made up that you wanted to do it or you would end up with a big pile of scrap. Just my 2 cents, but just save your time (actually a lot of time) and buy one.

Re: Is it possible to....?

You'd be better off finding a 4wd Blazer and converting it to 2wd IMO. If you are going for a complete custom look, it might be ok to start with a PU, but otherwise, you have a lot of work that could be avoided buy just finding a decent Blazer.

I missed it for a while too. CG posted a link to it. Frizzle Fry has done amazing work that most of us have only dreamed about doing.

Yep clear now, thanks.

Possible but way far from practical.

Would you keep the same wheelbase? (interesting approach)
If yes on the wheelbase,
* you'd have to change the top portion of the windshield frame.
* make up a 'B' pillar for the door/bedside mating.
* connect the bed/cab floors together to make a one piece unit
* connect the cab/quarter panels together
* cut down the doors. (easiest part of the transformation)
* build an undercarriage that would keep the body/firewall from flexing.
* move the gas tank
* add 6" to a hard top to fit or have a soft top custom made.

If the answer on the wheel base is no and you want it the same as an original blazer.
* all the above plus shortening the frame.
* shorten the rear drive shaft.
* shorten and make fit/work again the rear brake lines and e-brake cable.

That's about what it would take to make it look like an original blazer.

Nope, GM threw the 6"s into the SWB.

This link should show the frame difference's.
