GoodMark floor, what a piece!!!!

Picked up a full Goodmark floor today from Scotts Super Trucks , cudos to Goodmark for doing such a nice peice. This may be a little premature cause I have not even seen if it would fit. Their outer rockers fit like they should, and compared to the original floor repair patches they made, these are a work of art.

Will be starting on the replacement tomorrow, I will ttake pics, and hopefully things go well..

Darren

If everything goes well with the install this will be the best news we have heard regarding 67-72 parts in a long time! Keeping my fingers crossed...

Re: GoodMark floor, what a peice!!!!

Is your replacement floor with outrigger braces (not sure what they're called) or without? I heard they were making them with braces.

Re: GoodMark floor, what a peice!!!!

This is just the floor, the one with all the braces won't be out for a few months ????? yet. Lots of spot welds to cut, but it look straight forward, and its a good thing I have a perfect cab to use as a guide.

Re: GoodMark floor, what a peice!!!!

Well things went quit well, besides SMASHINGN my thumb with a hammer and driving my finger nail to my elbow, I had good success. Here is a shot of the new floor, and the old cab I'm tearing into.

It only took me a couple hours to get the floor out in little peices, I was trying not to cut the braces too much, but I will have to do a little welding. It would be alot faster if it was a virgin cab, the previous owner did a hack job in repairing the floor rockers and cab corners, so it took alot of time to remove the crap panels.

It took a long time to cut all the spot welds on the fire wall lip, but I should have just cut it off, because there is a little rot in there also.
The rear braces were a B@#Ch, talk about spot welds, that probably took me 4 hours to cut out ,clean, and repair the cuts I had made inn the brace.
I also had to cut the rear of the cab off, because the floor is also spot MANY welded across the back of the cab,

I will post pictures of the steps once I get them downloaded.

Re: GoodMark floor, what a peice!!!!

I hope you braced that cab really, really well!!!!!!!! I would go as far as putting it back on the frame and bolting it all down and fit the door before I started welding the complete floor back in. Could be a disaster for you for just a little more time.

Re: GoodMark floor, what a peice!!!!

Do you have the new rockers on yet, and what about the doors? Looks promising. Was the front floor edge bent down to mate up the the fire wall or was it ran long? Thanks for the info.

- any time you cut floow and tilt, weld in braces! This is a general rule of thumb I've gotten from the masters at this kind of stuff

I wish they (Goodmark) would make the floor in a high-hump version, too!!!
