Rust gas tank
Would it be better to pay someone to clean my gas tank from rust, or to just buy a new one for about $130? I have looked up on how to do the process myself, but I would rather pay someone else, only if its cheaper than a new tank.

I have used the east wood kits there easy to use and as long as your tank is not completly rusted I would do this before bying a new one. but if there is a lot of rust then you may just want to get a new tank. or convert to a blazer tank and get it off from behind your seat and under the truck.

This is what u do...Go to Home depot (Garden Center) Buy 2 gal of Muratic Acid, it with the pool cleaning stuff. Lowes does not sell it. Por a gallon or so in your rusted tank and rinse it with the acid. Do this about 2-3 times and rinse it with water. Let it dry and you have a rust free tank.

I recently made the decision to buy a new tank. The problem was the new LMC tank would only line up with 3 bolt holes. I had to send it back and pay shipping. Then pay $180 to have mine refurbished.

No guarantee that a new one won't rust either. I bought one several years ago and it only took a few months of not filling it up to rust up on the inside.
Don't remember where I got it but had trouble aligning the bolt holes. Had to use the drill. So, bottom line, if your's is in good shape, other than rust, try to clean it up first... |

I have a clean tank out of my 71 I would be willing to part with. $50.00 plus shipping. This is a factory tank.

I put an LMC tank in mine. (probably the same on every one else sells) I did have to open up a few of the mounting holes for it to fit. But I am very happy with it. I can top it off into the filler neck with no gas smell in the cab at all!
