Original style 68 mirrors

I have heard that the original style mirrors for the 68 have a vibration problem. Is this true? At the point of putting mirrors back on the truck after paint and need the info. Thanks

Well, vibration problem, as in they wobble around while you're driving? I suppose to some extent. They aren't as solid as modern mirrors. Plus, the mirror heads don't offer you the greatest viewing angles... But dang it, I love the way they look! Any other mirrors on a 67-68 just don't look right to me.

Question

One thing I've wondered is,are the mirror arms painted on the truck or painted and then installed? The phillips head screws natural finish or painted?

I prefer the stainless steel mirrors. But I think you would paint the mirrors seperately. Don't know about the screws. As long as you're not doing a true restoration, do whatever you want.
