Tilt Columns
Hey Guys,
I am considering a tilt column for my 68. I hear alot about the use of Van columns being used as well but I would like to be sure I'm getting a genuine truck column. Are there many alterations needed to use the van column? Will the bracket on the fire wall line up with dimples ? The stock truck column has a couple pieces of metal that act as stops so you can align the length at the firewall bracket and tilt it toward the engine or toward the fender. Thanks |

The shaft length on the van tilts is longer, the neutral safety switch needs to be relocated, and truck style floor and jacket seal need to be installed.
Once the steering shaft extension is adjusted the column installs and clamps up just like the truck column. JIm |

you'll have to look at your steering shaft. In mid 86 there was a chainge. If your steering shaft is one solid rod from fire wall to gear box, then you have the early style and you'll need the colapsable intermedeate rod from a late 68 up to 72 truck.
