Got My Interior Done - But Got a Seat Question
Well, I got it done enough for me anyway. I finally took care of all those little things that I have been meaning to do for such a long time. New dash pad, floor mat, heater contol knobs, defroster hoses, window felt fuzzies, window regulator, remote door handle, and new seat. (new heater core, too, but that was just routine maintenance/repair)
I am pretty sure that replacing the window fuzzies improved the torsional stiffness of the frame and body, or maybe that is just due to the lack of rattling. I had the original seat redone for the second time by the same upholsterer (last job held-up over 20 years with hard daily use) and this time I am missing even more springs. He tried to cross brace them but I am not sure they will hold. Anybody have ideas on where I can find some springs??

Re: Got My Interior Done - But Got a Seat Question
Probably have to cannabalize one from the junkyard - they can make them, but they're not the same.

Looks good Joe!
Is it your driver? I work in Roseville and think I've seen your truck around. ....and who did your seat?....I need to get my late model (90) 60/40 redone.

Re: Got My Interior Done - But Got a Seat Question
That sure is a nice looking interior.
I really like the looks of the GMCs, please post a picture of the outside. When I lived in Vallejo, Ca. in 1975 I bought a blue 1972 GMC 3/4 ton with a 350 and compound 4 speed. It had power steering and brakes, but other than those it was a basic truck. I drove it until the early 90's when I sold it to my brother-in-law. I now own a 71 Chevy C-10 with a 350 and compound 4 speed. Danny - SEMO |

Re: Got My Interior Done - But Got a Seat Question
A few more pics to show that good ol' truck character that I love. The interior paint is original except for the doors and jambs.
That radio was given to me from a buddy when I was in high school and it has been in there for over 25 years. The piece of plywood was my first "custom" work on the truck back then! With the Spark-O-Matic speakers from RadioShack, I think the system puts out a total of 7 watts! The marks on the ashtray are from the wrist watch that normally resides there. The truck was my daily driver from 1981 'til around 1999. Now it is just my weekend driver. The guy that did the seat is Steve Lowe form Lowe's Upholstery near Sylvan Corners. He charged $360 for the job.
