Re: what can you do for white wall's ?

There used to be a product called Wesley's Bleach White for ww tires. With few cars running the walls these days I'm not sure if it's still available or not.

Hey...not to gank your thread or anything, I love your WW's! What size/brand are they. I just ordered a set of rims and need to get tires ASAP. And I concur with the previous post. Bleach white is the bomb digity! If your parts store doesn't carry it...stop doing business with them 'till they do.

Mr. Clean brand "Mr. Eraser" works really well on my motorcycles and it is not as harsh on chrome rims as Bleach White is.

You must be thinkin' of something different... Wesleys will not hurt any rims. I have used it on raised white letter tires mounted on chrome, aluminum, and coated aluminum rims... no probs at all. It's not bad on paint either. Just hose it off.

Someone mentioned Castrol Super Clean (Purple)... it's a very strong degreaser... it will eat paint and dull the coated finishes on mag wheels. Be really careful if you use that stuff.

Re: what can you do for white wall's ?

S.O.S. pads do really nice work for getting them clean. As far as white shoe polish, I know that when my sister got married, part of my decorating work was to put white spots all the way around all four tires. It never did wash off, was on there until they replaced the tires.

I also put baby powder in the A/C vents. Gave a little puff every time the air kicked on until they sold the car.

It's a real funny story until I tell people that I'm the guy they sold it to...

Westley's Bleachwhite is indeed the shiznits! It makes white parts white and black parts black. Don't do the tires when they're hot and/or in the sun. Do one tire at a time. If you get any of the product on an uncoated aluminum wheel, it may also cause the aluminum to change its appearance. So, I spray my wheel cleaner on the wheel, then spray the tire with Westley's. I use a tire brush on the tire, even though the instructions say you don't need to.

After they are dry, spray the tires with some ArmorAll or other rubber protectant of your choosing.

Funny story about this stuff....I worked for an ESSO station back in '66. We did car washes for $2.00....hand washed and dried/vacuumed. We had a guy who would use a pneumatic bumper jack to jack up the rear of the car and start the car, then put it in gear. As the rear wheels turned, he'd be spraying them and then scrubbing them, followed by a rinse. Yeah, they'd look good. However, we had a customer with a '65 Buick Electra 225 (Deuce and a Quarter, okay) and the jack had these two pads that went up under the bumper. One side of the pad had a half-inch tall pointed barb that was intended to keep the jack from letting the bumper slide forward. Theo (the car wash guy) finished the Buick, then pulled it around to fill it up with that high-priced Esso Extra (36.9/gallon). Gas started running out from under the car. Those two pads with the pointed bumper retainers? Seems Theo had gone too far under the gas tank and punctured it in two places. 26 gallons of fuel on the ground....a new gas tank at $100 and HIS labor.....and then another 26 gallons of Esso Extra....job well done.

But, the tires looked GREAT!!

Re: what can you do for white wall's ?

I may be wrong but I have heard that Tire dressings (Armor All, more shine, etc.) do not help in keeping the white "white" on whitewalls and/or if you do use them avoid getting it on the whitewall. For cleaning using a scrub sponge and either 409 or Simple Green is suggested, take a gander at the below link from Diamond Back Tires on "what ruins whitewall tires"

http://www.widewhitewalltires.com/ruins_whitewalls.html

Hey C low, have you seen that using the rock trick causes any drying or cracking of the whitewall over time?

Re: what can you do for white wall's ?

The general purpose household cleaner "Fantastic" does it on whitewalls & also on the blackwall part, for me.

Squirt it on, & brown runs off the blackwall portion & you get white-white whitewalls. I have a brass bristle brush that helps out, if they're really dried-on muddy or gunky.

Showing black? As in "behind the white wall"? Sounds like you've rubbed and polished them down as far as they will polish. You could try white shoe polish after of course you make whats left as white as possible. Good luck...that truck does look good with those "shoes" on! Now, how 'bout some pics of the engine....power steering comes to mind (I'm gonna haunt you till you do)
