What oil for a DD?

Going to try to fire up a "dormant". "it ran when I parked it" 6v 53 today.....and I wanna top off the oil before I do.... What is available that is suitable? Yeah. I know about rack sticking and run away...also going with some fresh fuel and will fill filters.....any other gotchas or things to be aware of? This is my first Detroit (not counting the 6.2 in my K5)

Re: What oil for a DD?

Finding the correct Oil for an old Detroit can be a challenge, but locally my supplier has Conoco HD Fleet 40 in stock that I use in mine.
