New 33" BFG's on stock 4x4

Just wanted to show off the new tires I installed today. Installing them reminded me how much I would like to find the correct year/style hub caps that match my 1970 Chevy K10. Could anyone post a picture of the correct ones I need to look for and possibly point me in the right direction? Thanks!

do you know how much taller the front of a 4x4 is? I wonder if 33's fit under a 2wd stock c20

I really dont think so, from what I have been told only skinny 33s on stock offset wheels will fit without a lift on a 4x4.
I was wondering if 31s would even fit on a 2wd without rubbing.

yea 31s fit. thats whats in my sig picture. they are old and beaten but they dont rub.

I have 285/70-17's installed on 17" Hummer H2 rims on my 2WD C20. They fit fine. These tires are 32.70" overall diameter and 11.22" section width.

I know its not popular but Im trying to fit 33's on 20's or 22's under a stock height.
I like big tires but not the oldschool doughnut look.

FYI 33's being 4" taller than original "H"'s on the K series improve milage by 15%! Not an overdrive, but a sizable improvement for a daily driver! Also from what I know 33's don't rub on 4x4's and 32's are about max on 2wd!

We all have our faults. Ha Ha. Actually I like the "Old school doughnut look". I personally don't care for the look of big rims with no rubber. Looks like they're driving on the rims. Anyway, good luck in finding the look that you want.

Just watch the parts board. The ones with the yellow bow tie come up pretty often for the half tons. They are very close to the stock with blue bow ties.

I got 33's on my '72 K10 and they rub on the front corner of the fender if the wheels are turned and the axle articulates a bit

I don't know exactly, the label has faded considerably. From what I can tell from the label its called a step a matic made by BMC. This is what it looks like with the door open.

Thanks for the pictures! How did you find your hub caps? What can I expect to pay for a full set of four?

I got the front two off ebay for 30 bucks and the back two at my local junkyard for 20 bucks. All four are the stainless style, the older ones are chrome (and I believe the older ones are brass under the chrome if I remember right) but they are all the same cosmetically up to '75 or so. Love your pickup by the way.

one other thing: the stainless ones have the yellow bowtie so I had to paint mine to match the correct blue

Great looking truck! You didn't specify and I think others should know,those are 9.50/33s right?

You must have 12.50/33s. What width wheels are they on? That makes a difference,too. They'll clear on a stock height truck mounted on 8" wheels,but not on 10" wheels.

Your truck obviously is sitting higher than stock,at least in front. Those tires wouldn't fit a stock height C/20 the way they do yours. Stock C/20s sit with a rake...front lower than stock. If they sit level it's because the front is lifted. Figure,the rear of a K/20 is set up no different from a C/20. They sit level because the leaf spring/solid axle brings the nose up.

Sooner - love the new tires, they look great! Are they Mud T/A's or All Terrain's?? Couldn't tell just staring - or what type are they if neither of those? Also, could you list the full size, i.e. LT265-75-16 or whatever happens to be, I'd like to bookmark it for reference. (Same for you medbronze, I'd like to know type/actual size - GREAT looking truck and I lvoe the 2" lift - are the wheels 6 or 8" wide?)

Fuel economy will not (ok, should not) improve 15% just because of taller tires. Did you correct your speedo/odo by putting in new speedometer driven gear at the trans to compensate for taller tires? Or did you calculate using GPS for the mileage count? If neither, your mileage calculations are probably incorrect. (although, technically, when you go to larger tires, the error should be in the direction of showing worse mileage, even though it's unchanged, because you're actually covering more ground than your odometer is telling you you covered... "false" improved fuel economy should normally only happen when you go to smaller dia tires.) Granted, new, properly inflated, etc tires can improve mileage a bit, but 15% seems like a dream to me (ok, I mean it would be a dream FOR me, sure would be nice). I paid $5.30/gallon yesterday to fill up my truck - and it was almost on Empty!

Which brings up another point worth mentioning - if you go to taller tires, especially if you make a BIG change like the 4" mentioned - your speed will be reading significantly lower on the dash than what you're actually going- so beware speeding tickets. You can argue with the CHiPpy all day long that you were doing 55, but the radar gun doesn't lie.

I tried getting the 33x9.50x15s but they said their were none showing up in the system anywhere in the country. They didnt know when there would be any available so I went with the 33x10.50x15s.

I used to have a set of 33x12.50s on a set of 15x8 rims but I didn't like how far they stuck out from the fender well. I guess someone else did because a couple of winters ago they stole them from the barn where I had them stored.

med.bronze is the one with the 2" lift, mine is stock as far as I know.

same thing happened to me last May when I got mine. I even emailed the folks at BF Goodrich to see what the deal was and they gave me the same story as the tire places were giving me. I told my tire place to go ahead and order the 10.50's in the A/T's and they called right back and said they could only get the M/T's.

Jocko- my wheels are 6" wide.

by the way Sooner are your wheels 6 inchers as well?
