70 SWB with Trailblazer SS frame??? NEED HELP???

Ok, this is my very first post so I apologize if I'm doing some things wrong here.
I have always loved this era of trucks. I had a 69' short box in High School and sold it to go to college. As soon as I got out of College, I found another one and flew to California from Wyoming and drove her all the way home!!!

Now I just finished building my shop and time to dig in head first!! I have a 04' Silverado SS and love how it handles and drives and would like to incorporate modern engineering, supspension, and power into the old classic!!

I was thinking about or seeing if it is even possible of buying a salvaged trailblazer SS and using the the running gear and supsenion for my 1970 C10 or doing a complete underbody swap. I believe my frame dimensions are 113" and the SS is 115". I personally think an AWD short box with about 600+ horse would be a bad mamma jamma!!!!!

Has anyone attempted something like this or can any of you point me in the right direction?

I've got pictures somewhere of a 64-66 on a trailblazer ss frame... Lost most of the bed capacity due to the frame Kicking up so much on the trailblazer behind the back of the cab. Also ran the stock wheels for the trailblazer... which looked kinda funny to me... but I think it was done so that the track width would be correct... I assume older style wheels would of been offset to far to the outside of the truck.

I can also mod the frame from the back of the cab to ass end. Just keep my same alignemnts, hieghts, etc near the rear wheels and suspension. I am kind of confused about the rims thing though. You can always purchase any style or type of wheel wiht 100 differnet variations of offset depths wheel spacers etc. But would be interested in taking a look. If you could find any of those pics I sure would appreciate it!

You're correct about aftermarket wheels would have worked... I didn't talk to the owner so I don't know why he did what he did. Only pictures I've found of it so far. Appeared to be quite a high quality build.

Seems to me it would be a more straight forward build if you purchased a system of components built for your truck. Porterbuilt, Hotchkis, ECE, CPP, and a few others can outfit your truck. In this case you can choose ride height, track width, suspension type (static or air spring), engine/transmission, brake system etc. I just believe it would be much easier and much less expensive. Just my .02.

^^Totally agree, I would use the engine, trans, etc but find a company as listed above for the frame work pieces. Way too many scrapped projects due to the insane amount of work needed to pull this off.

I do agree it would be easier. But do you think that you are going to get as good of a finished product with those brands listed, over an already engineered street power plant?? Just wondering, I honestly don't know. The only other thing is that I really think that I want an AWD C-10 pushing aroudn 600+ horse to the wheels!!!
