There is a 4x4 dually Chevy in a neighboring town, it's got a 67-72 cab on it, I didn't know they made Duallies back then, can anyone confirm that it is a 67-72 dually. It has a flat bed don't know the engine I imagine it's probably either a 292 or a 396, but I didn't ask the owner about it, what other engine choices were there in a HD model back then?

Yeah they made factory duallys, but they were all 2wd 1 tons either cab and chassis or flatbed, but not pickups. If its a 4x4 its probably either a converted 3/4 ton, or a super rare NAPCO conversion. I have a C-30 flatbed that I turned into a pickup since GM didn't make one.

BTW, Mine came with a 292, SM420 4 speed and HO72 rearend with 5.38gears. It would pull a house down, but wouldn't run but about 60 at WOT!

Hi,welcome to the site.Guys have been building what the factory never did since day one.Just so you know,there were no big block 4wds in these years and no dual wheel pickups.It`s funny,there was a dual wheel option available on 3/4t trucks,though.But,only on cab`n`chassis models.
When GM did start making the dual wheel pickups they gave them the name "Dooley" which has transformed into "duallie" over time.

Well this truck is a manual tranny, and 4x4. I'm thinking maybe it's either bigger than a 1 ton, or it's a custom job.
The same house also had a duallie 73-80(round headlights) chevy pickup also with a flat bed, and it had a lot longer wheel base than what a regular 3/4 or 1 ton would have. I'm guessing that truck is the replacement for the one I'm interested in.
Next time I'm out there I will knock on the door and ask about it. I'm getting the idea that they took a newer frame and put the older cab on top of it. What gets me is it has been sitting for a while, and usually trucks like that don't last long around here it's not in real good shape, but it's solid as could be and very restorable, especially since it's a flat bed, and I only have to worry about the cab. Maybe the owner wants a ton of money for it, or something.

No definitley not the one I'm looking at, I couldn't afford the doors off of that rig. That is one of the most unique rigs I have ever seen. Did you make it, or is it some super rare gem? Love the plates too.

Someone built it. GM didn't make a dually pickup until 1973.
