A beauty on eBay

Though I'm curious about the "OSB" bed floor.

A beauty indeed. These trucks are works of art, and this one is no exception!

I should post a photo of our patio roof.
We chose metal covered OSB and it is trash after six years of weather.

Re: A beauty on eBay

It is indeed a nice truck but the osb under the bed rather than putting in the cross rails an doing it right tell me that more corners may have been cut while applying a lot of effort to get the "look" just right.

It is going to be a bit pricey to consider buying it and doing the things to make it perfect though such as changing the bed floor for hardwood and stainless rails and swapping that way too flashy for the truck steering wheel for one that matches the rest of the appearance of the truck. The wheel looks great but it belongs in a full bling bling billet laden truck witha really tricked out interior while that truck needs a simple steering wheel , maybe one of the design it yourself ones from Con2R

Re: A beauty on eBay

Note also the crappy welds on the exhaust hangars and the leaf spring u-bolts that are 3" too long. If you look closely, one of the pics shows the bed being raised about 8", up to the letters on the tailgate. Also, most of the fuel line looks like it's rubber instead of steel. There's a burn mark on the OSB from where the exhaust is too close. The bed looks like TimberTech composite decking. I'd be wary of this one.

I think that burn mark is from where they torch welded that exhaust.
All the welds on that exhaust look torch welded.

I sure don't like raised beds on these trucks. Ruins it for me.

Now that I look at it again, I think you're right. The burn mark would have been all along the pipe. I just don't know what to say about building a truck that looks as good as this one does on the outside, then not take care when wielding the torch. I suppose the local Midas guy didn't have as much pride in his work.

Re: A beauty on eBay

That was probably the guy at the muffler shop who scorched the bottom side of the bed a bit. It looks like they weld up in about the same places one shop here in town does, the way their rack is set up (actually a pit) they can't install long one piece tail pipes and have to weld them above the axle.

That truck could use some tweaking here and there but it's one I'd get in and just flat drive. Fly in and drive home and grin the whole way.

I see the board, but what does OSB stand for?

Oriented Strand Board. Kinda like plywood but no where near as good.

Underlayment for the flooring in your house but not what you want under the bed of your truck. Most of the time we see it as sheeting on the roofs of houses or the outside of new construction before the siding is put on. It doesn't like getting wet at all.

Re: A beauty on eBay

When buying a rig ALWAYS look underneath. May looks like jewel on the top, but like crap on the under side. Fortunately at least he painted the underneath. But I don't get why he has ply wood and the wood strips? Gotta say a well done truck and the motor is a tight fit but looks good in there!

No bed cross sills either. Possibly he got the bed down over the frame a bit by leaving out the cross sills and using the osb and fake porch boards but it may have been a cost cutter and you may have a good point. The truck looks great from a distance but when you look real close what do you see? He may have taken more than one short cut or the current seller may not be the guy who built the truck and may have bought it from someone who puts them together to sell.

Re: A beauty on eBay

Black spot on the OSB could also be from an exhaust leak, since the welds don't look all that great anyway.

Re: A beauty on eBay

Someone likes it enough to bid $30K for it. It's a good looking truck so I'm not knocking it, but I noticed one thing that looks wrong. It looks like the bed corner doesn't fit up and creates a gap. I haven't noticed this on any of the AD builds here on the forum.
