Re: anyone ever use ths tool chest?

Don't have experience with those, but you can find nice snap-on and matco boxes on cl for less money than that. Hope you find a new box soon!!

Re: anyone ever use ths tool chest?

I would like to get new, and would like a 72in. i cant really afford snap on though. the Matco truck has a used snap on 42in for 2,700. I'm prolly not going to get the montezuma or the extreme.

Re: anyone ever use ths tool chest?

The Snap-On dealer we work with just had the corporate truck roll through this region, he went out with corp. for four days and sold 23 new boxes. This translates into a lot of used boxes (in good shape) for sale.

My advice for buying a tool box is “ Be patient , take your time, do not but on impulse”. Check with the route dealers for boxes they have taken in on a upgrade. You will not only find a quality box but more than likely you will not overpay as buyers do for new boxes.

Second choice would be CL, but then you will have to deal with cash (or Private financing)

Re: anyone ever use ths tool chest?

What are your needs and wants? Do you have the $ for a "truck" tool box?

With the name brand box, you can get a higher resale value. Personally I'm cheap, I have looked at the used truck tool boxes, however I'd prefer to go with an in-expensive box and put the money toward tools. Maybe down the road I'll splurge, but for now tools make the money, not the storage of them. (currently looking toward HF box when they throw it on sale. Or a 44" from Northern Tool, depends how much I "need" one.)
Both Northern and HF are driving distance from me.

I'm kinda like duct tape- no real purpose, but handy to have around.

I understand cheap, as of June 15, 2013; I have 27 years on my Craftsman top & bottom roll-around that I paid $249.00 for in 1986. Like me it still works.... biarley

PS: I park mine right next to the $6,000.oo brand name boxes

The guys are surely right. You were pricing out cheaper 72" tool boxes and asking out budget brands but want a new high-end one.
Here's your answer in a nutshell!

Good thing about this (going through the dealer on used) is you can still finance through Mac or Snap-on or whoever and then transfer the loan over to someone that has cheaper financing...a Credit Union is usually the best choice.

CL has bargain prices, may have the same warranty (?) but cash up front (you do have the option of touching/seeing before purchase and the price might make it well worth your time) can save big.
Besides...has anyone ever heard of one of these boxes failing?

Re: anyone ever use ths tool chest?

I wouldnt spend 3k on a no name box under any circumstances. That same 3k buys you a used top end 10k dollar box. A used snap on box is still a very very nice tool box. Most guys that spend 10k on a box dont beat them to death. Aside from that the used snap on is probably still nicer than the new 3k dollar box you posted.

Re: anyone ever use ths tool chest?

That's an older box. Its going to be really heavy. Those were good boxes the only issue is if you aren't real tall the top drawers can be a problem.
