1964-1966 K10 Carryall 4x4 Data Tag
Wanting to replace a missing data tag (left lower kick panel) on a 1965 K10 1406 Carryall 4x4. Appears the data tag (photo below) may be available but I am not sure that this is the correct one (since mine is missing). To the best of my knowledge the 327cu. in. V-8 was not a option until 1966 ? Does any one know if this is the correct one and if not does anyone have a photo of a correct one/know where to get one. Thanks

Re: 1964-1966 K10 Carryall 4x4 Data Tag
Found the one below which does not include the 327 cu. in. in the 'list' and would appear to be correct ? Hoping someone can explain the difference including which is correct for a 1965 1406 4x4 Carryall. Thanks.

Re: 1964-1966 K10 Carryall 4x4 Data Tag
It's going to depend on when in 1965 yours was made. Late 65 could have had a 327 in it. I believe 66 was the first year they advertised having the 327 available. I know my last 66 truck had the 327 in it. Which I replaced with a 350 that I built for hauling a camper up-and-down the Sierra Mountains.

Re: 1964-1966 K10 Carryall 4x4 Data Tag
In 65 the 327 was only available in 3/4 ton and up, no half tons. I looked at 3 65 tags and none list the 327. But that's not to say, like Mike said, it may have been that the tag was changed late in the year. If you have any buildsheets or protecto plate we may be able to figure out when it was built.

Re: 1964-1966 K10 Carryall 4x4 Data Tag
I've wondered about this, too. Wasn't the same tag used on the medium duty trucks? Wasn't the 327 available on mediums prior to late-65?

Re: 1964-1966 K10 Carryall 4x4 Data Tag
There was no buildsheet or protecto plate. So, what we have done is taken a repo 1959 data tag and scanned it in to the computer since the backingplate size, letter fonts and hole placement for rivets are exact same as the 1965. Then using a photo of a 1965 and the scanned in 1959 created a 1965 without the 327 noted on the 1966. Have already contacted a printer who can do the reproduction and am waiting on printer guy to get caught up with other work (should be a week or so). Looks like we are going to print a 'sheet' of them since it appears to be much more cost effective than just the one (which means we should have a few extra to offer for sell). The photo is the 1965 id data tag we came up with (photo is blown up about x3) printed off on a plain copy paper.

Still working on finding someone that can do it (in contact with someone new at present). Did come up with another question. What is a CA # (located in the bottom right) ? Thanks

Re: 1964-1966 K10 Carryall 4x4 Data Tag
Finally, sorry for just updating (been dealing with father's Trust and estate since his passing). On top of this the girl that was doing the data tags ended up in the hospital right before Christmas 2014 and had brain surgery. She is doing ok and made it back to work (in a wheelchair) by the end of January and was able to finish the job. As of yesterday I now have the first 40 reproduction data tags for the 1964 and 1965 Chevy C 10s and K 10s in hand (these may also fit other 1964 and 1965 models). The original data tags were screen printed where as these are produced using the sublimation printing process which is like the next grade up in quality (meaning that they are harder to scuff, scrap or scratch). The lines and lettering are crisp, even and straight due to 'reworking' the scan on the computer. The difference can be seen comparing it to the last 2 photos showing a reproduction 1955 2nd series data tag and a reproduction 1953 data tag. The tag guy, A. G. Backeast says he can stamp them as factory original. They will be listed on eBay @ $23.25/each ($2.50 shipping) but anyone from these boards can obtain one for $20.00 + $2.00 shipping. Thanks to all who had info and input.

Re: 1964-1966 K10 Carryall 4x4 Data Tag
I have a 1966 factory K10 that I am looking for an authentic ID plate, that I havent seen another like it. I printed out a pic of the example of the one you provided and hand wrote out, line for line what my original tag says. Any one have a line on one of these?

Getting ready to do 2 of the 1966 data tags also (computer guy is working on it as I write this). Should be ready in 30 to 45 days. The photos below are the ones we are doing and the one matches what you need.

Re: 1964-1966 K10 Carryall 4x4 Data Tag
Sorry to break in to this thread, but what size rivets would I use to re attach my data plate? I was thinking stainless screws as I'm eventually going to have the kick panels carpeted again. Thanks

Re: 1964-1966 K10 Carryall 4x4 Data Tag
The holes are pretty large. A lot bigger than a standard rivet. Holes are like 1/4". If you're not looking for a factory look you're gonna have to go with a pretty big self tapping screw since you can't get at the back side. Search eBay for chevy truck ID plate rivet and you'll get something pretty close to factory.
