Re: rattle painting tips?

long strokes, hold the can far away so you just spray it with the mist not the actual spray.. and strat with the can not facing the truck

Re: rattle painting tips?

oh and also if im doing the body work piece by piece im running the risk of it not lining up right?

if so if i do some priming and then put them on the body then do body work more primer the color and clear is that going to be a good system

Re: rattle painting tips?

In my experience, the trick to rattle can paint, as well as any other DIY project, is just patience. Take your time and prep well and don't worry about thick glossy coats at first. Spray paint should be evenly applied in long sweeps and light misted coats, Allowing it to build up to a nice, smooth even finish. Ive done a few rattle canned paint jobs to keep it looking nice before stripping and going with real auto paint. if done correctly and patiently they dont come out to bad.

Re: rattle painting tips?

Paint is Rustoleum Satin Black. I bought 3 cans, 1 quart in size. They cost $8.00 each at Home Depot.

This is the paint gun I used: http://www.harborfreight.com/air-too...gun-66222.html

Travlinman, hope this helps and thanks for the compliment!

Re: rattle painting tips?

Dz.. did you thin the Rustoleum with any type of paint thinner prior to blowing it on and did you sand your truck before you painted?? Looks good.
