Oil Leak During Priming

Yup, just my luck. Start priming the oil system and oil starts flowing out of the front harmonic balancer seal. Closer inspection, I found that it folded on itself during the install. So I guess I get to take it all apart and see if the seal is damaged then try it again. I know when I installed it, I used oil on the seal and the balancer.

Does anyone have any other ideas how to keep it from folding?

Something else I am going to try is keep all the cover bolts real loose, so while I am installing the balancer I can jiggle the cover. This might keep from folding too, then just tighten all of the bolts with a gear wrench after its installed.

Did you put the seal in backwards? The balancer pushes the seal lip back. I can't see how you could fold it over.

Nope, the seal was installed correctly. Also after taking another look at it. The outer part (dust and dirt seal was the one that was folded over so I dont know why it was leaking but it was....

Anyways, I reinstalled the balancer with the cover loose and Vaseline on everything. Now everything is on straight, tight, and primed with zero leaks.
