Aftermarket Grille

What's everyone's opinion on aftermarket grilles? I have a 65 that I either need to purchase a new aftermarket grille or have mine chromed?. Unfortunately in crazy California with all the regulations it is hard to find any chrome shops anymore so I would most likely have to send it out of state to get it chromed which will be pricey. Just wondering about the quality of aftermarket.

I certainly have seen quite a few chrome ones looking kinda rusty.

Re: Aftermarket Grille

Just buy an NOS aluminum one, same price as rechrome, they pop up for sale from time to time.

Re: Aftermarket Grille

Mine rusted after about 2 years. It is on a daily driver. For a weekend warrior that sits inside a lot they may last a long time.

So we're aluminum grilles what originally came with the trucks? I assumed the grille on my truck was original but it is chromed steel

Re: Aftermarket Grille

The painted ones were steel and the shinny ones were aluminum.

Re: Aftermarket Grille

I bought a chrome one from Classic Parts of America about 18 years ago and it is still in excellent condition. Although my truck never sees rain.
