ACC Builds: 61 Parkwood Wagon & 67 Delmont

These are two different returning customers ...

The 61 is in for a fresh 350 and 700R4 swap (currently, a daily driven column 3-speed)
-
Previous work included some March products, Vintage A/C, and some other odds and ends.
-
Customer complaint was oil consumption. It idled and ran REALLY well, but a compression and leakdown tests yield two low cylinders.
-
So we opted for a NEW 290HP GM crate engine.

Love that wagon!!

It's only lowered with springs right? Air ride would take it to the next level.

Thanks !! Yep, wagons are my favorite. I owned several '64 Impala Wagons and a '63 too.

The wagon has adjustable coilover in the front (stock A-arms) and stock cut springs and air-shocks in the rear. Evidently, this wagon did have air-ride once before.

Blue tape marks contact area spot on body. The return nipple had to be moved in order for stock straps to work. The return line enters the tank, and it tacked inside to the rear of the tank.
-
-
The line was relocated to the center, next to the fuel line:

I used the MIG on the fuel neck...
-

-

-
Using the Leakdown Tester, I had this tank looking like a ballon ! Took care of a little pin-holes in the neck....

Re: ACC Builds: 61 Parkwood Wagon & 67 Delmont

I used what I had available for contact area protection, in this case some knock-off DynaMat ... On the body itself, I had welded 1/4" strips along the bottom of the saddles, and a 1" tube across the back to get the tank to fit just right .... Matting was also applied there ....
-

-

-

-
Also, the carriage bolts were relocated rearward a tad. 7/8" access holes were drilled from inside the truck, in order to drop the carrriage bolts in thru support. Some stainless plugs will be used in truck....

Looks good. I would swap out that oil filter for a good one (like a delco or something) before you fire it, though.

I have a WIX that'll go on there.

Figure I'd screw something on there to keep it sealed.

Besides, I'm going to do 2 break oil changes anyway before I give it back to the customer.
