has anyone shortened a longbed stepside to a short????
seems easy but then to swap parts would be easy too!!!!
would a 73+ bed work with 67-72?

It is possible but please don't do it they look so stupid here is a pic of a truck with the 73-87 bed on it.

the bed its self can be converted and made to look right real easy, and with some other mods, it can be done to look 100% correct. There was a thread on this a few years back.
But just slapping the 73 - 87 bed on it and installing your 67 fenders would make it so close that 99.9% of the ppl would never know.

i would NOT run 73+ fenders i was just going to use the box
with the og 67 fenders.......but it looks as if the fender bolt
locations are different?

is there any interest in a longbed stepside box i know they aren't
too common but i dont think there is any demand for them!!!
im gonna look for a short box and keep the fenders to match the
patina look.....but they need to be BEAT back into shape.....
how you guys like the kustum tailgate and latching system????

I agree. something differant is always cool. That long stepper would make a neat 4x4 with stock wheels and skinny mudders

If you use the 73-87 style step bed, the step will need to be used with it and therfor the fenders as well. The front of these newer beds is cut off shorter in height than the 67-72 and the steps are different mainly because of the gas tank positions.

long bed stepers look good lifted. theres a 69 long bed step side and it would look sweet converted to 4wd and lifted

I took the bolts out of my rear bumper supports fully expecting to simply lift it out......

needed a transmission jack to free it up. after removing the bumper, the rear of the truck lifted 2 full inches!
