Re: Haulin: or, why fast trucks are better than muscle cars

I'll take even the slowest truck vs a muscle car lol unless its a race. My truck gets used as a truck all the time and its plenty fast enough. What are you building with the concrete?

Re: Haulin: or, why fast trucks are better than muscle cars

Spent alot of time with one of those mixers and Dad's old 70 C/20 back when I was a kid. Shoveled off 3 ton of sand from the truck once and ran every bit of it through the mixer later. Yea the old truck was squatted but handled it fine! Sure wish we'd taken a pic of that load!

Did a concrete bridge with my dad too out of a '70 c10 in Barbourville, Ky (about 1980).

Owning a muscle-truck is like being married to a good-looking women who can also cut a cord of wood. (Like my wide can =)

It is good at more than just one thing.

Re: Haulin: or, why fast trucks are better than muscle cars

The mixer is irrelevant, it's the 1000 lbs of concrete that do the trick. Only way I can keep the wheels from roasting.

I'm helping my little brother rebuild his 200 year old barn. We poured some foundation Sunday.

Beautiful vehicles! And to think that your neighbors spent more money on their minivan, and in 5 years it won't be worth much of anything....

Yea, nice rides! Big El Camino fan!
My truck has the original 327 block built over to a 350. Built up a bit, aimed at low end power. I have a 5 speed Getrag as well.

Thanks.
Speaking of money spent, left to right I paid $1150, $1200, and $650.

Street Smart - I love the Monte. I owned a 1971 that I paid $200 for in complete working condition. Including working AC. It was what we refer to up here in the rust belt as a 'winter beater'. Rusted bad but ran great. With a pair of snow tires it went everywhere I asked it to go. I ran it every winter through college and even loaned it to a little brother one summer. It lives on in various places like the disk brakes in the yellow one and the block I made into a 383 which resides in the truck.

Best part about having a truck that hauls ass is when you have a load of firewood in the back and can still beat some snotnose punk in a rice burner off the line and whip him light to light.
