New Daily Driver

Picked up my new daily driver yesterday... 2002 Silverado regular cab SWB, 5.3L sitting on 20's. Traded my '68 LWB straight across. Probably gave up a little on the trade but I need a daily driver more than I need another classic so all-in-all, I'm happy with the trade.

I will eventually bag it but for now I think I'll just bump the front end up an inch. I looks like they did a 4/4 drop so the back needs to come down a couple of inches. I could notch it, put stock hangers and shackles back on and flip the axle but the tires are about even with the outer lip of the wheel well so I would need new wheels, tires, etc... and I just can't afford it right now.

Here are a few pics... Enjoy.

Re: New Daily Driver

Very nice...there aren't many trucks that would make me part with my 93, but I'd give it up if the right 99-02 shortwide came around. They're just really great looking. Then in 03 Chevy rode it right off the rails

The 5.3 is a lot of motor in one of those, too...

Re: New Daily Driver

Thanks guys. I'm pretty happy with it. As a few of you have said, it will make a nice daily driver. There are a few little issues I need to sort through which should be expected with a 10 year old vehicle. I'm pretty fussy though so most of it is pretty minor.

I am planning a few changes... I was thinking of using a 1" spring spacer up front to level out the stance a little but, against my better judgement, I decided I am going to remove the rear shackle and hanger kit (4" drop) and go back to stock shackles and hangers and install a 6" flip kit. I like the stance in the front so I'm going to bring the back end down to match. Also, I'm not a big fan of the Torq Thrusts so I am going to look at a set of these instead. They are for sale locally for $900 with only 10K miles on them so the tires are like brand new and the wheels also appear to be in great shape.

Maybe someone could put them on a picture of my truck to help me make up my mind (hint, hint) .

Re: New Daily Driver

Nice wheels, are they Boss?

I love TTs, but they just don't look right in six lug form...

Yes, they are Boss wheels. As I said, I'm not a huge fan of the Torg Thrusts but one of my biggest problems with them is that they "poke out" at the hub. All the spokes come to a point and then the centre cap pokes out even farther. The Boss wheel has about the same offset (2mm more actually) but the design makes them look much deeper. Besides that, I like the look of the wheels... At one point I thought of putting a set on my '70.

Thanks for all the compliments. I am enjoying the truck and thinking about all the mods I can do... It truly is a sickness.

Re: New Daily Driver

Yeah, I'd really like to put a set of 335s on my truck. They're visually deeper than most other choices.

Re: New Daily Driver

Finally got the BOSS wheels installed and adjusted the front end up an inch (I was tired of the tires scrubbing the inner fenders everytime I hit a bump). I have a notch and flip kit on the way so will eventually bring the back down 1 to 1.5 inches but, for now, it looks much better. Here is a pic.

Re: New Daily Driver

Nice looking ride! For a driver I think the height is perfect, I wouldn't want it any lower unless it was bagged. When the time comes to bag it are you thinking of going air over leaf or 4 link? Keep up the good work, it definitely looks better now than when you got it.

Truck looks great, before and after the wheel change. I love my 02 as a DD. One day mine will grow up and have a V8 too.
