No spark at times?
I have a 2001 Tahoe with the 5.3L. The issue is at times it does not fire when trying to start. If it doesnt start right up you can spin it over forever and no spark. If you cycle the key it may fire the next time. The most I have to cycle the key is 3-4 times. It will do this when cold or hot. I know I have good fuel pressure just don't have spark when this occurs. Once it starts it will run fine it just has an issue when starting. I have replaced the crank position sensor. After some trouble shooting I don't have voltage going to the crank sensor when it is not firing. Anybody got any ideas? Ignition switch maybe?

Re: No spark at times?
The CKP is wired directly to the PCM. Check a ignition hot at a coil or the MAF sensor (pink wire) for power while cranking...If no power I whould suspect the ignition switch. Past that a good scan tool whould be in order.
On a side note, Did you perform a crankshaft position system variation learn procedure after replacing the CKP? (scan tool required) |
