Finally pics of my '65
Well, I finally got around to taking some pics of my '65 C20. A little background on it:
Bought new in '65 by my grandpa, who kept it garaged in with a canopy on it from '69 until he gave the truck to me in 2008. Rebuilt the original 283 back in '92, has 4 speed with granny low. Some of the changes I've made was to remove the good condition but ugly canopy, put the tailgate back on with the original chains, change the intake manifold to a '66 quadrajet intake and put a '78 Firebird quadrajet on it. I am also in the process of changing the axle to a 14 bolt ff, I've got the new brackets, but need help welding them onto the axle at the right angle. It's been in the bed for about 2 months now, trying to go from the super low 4.56 to a 3.46. Right now it's just too low. Anybody in the PNW want to help me get this axle in? |

You're a lucky man to have such a nice truck handed down to you by your grandpa. I haven't seen any stock survivors as nice as that. I'm turnin' green with envy.

Re: Finally pics of my '65
Thanks guys, I do feel really lucky to have such a nice original. I'm actually trying to find the original hubcaps for a 3/4 ton that don't cost a fortune as well, as someday hope to put the hard to find Custom Camper badges on it that are for a '65. Never actually seen the '65 ones, only '66 in real life. I almost got someone locally to trade their wheels and caps (stock) for my wheels, but they backed out. I'm also going to recover the seat as the upholstry is torn and is covered by the saddle blanket cover. Here are a few more I took today...

Very nice truck Scott
I could weld those mounts on for you, but I'm a ways away from you. I might know of someone in Vancouver that could weld them on for you. Let me check on that.

Super sharp clean truck. Nice that you got that from your grandpa.
On a super low granny gear, can't you just start off in second. I thought I remember doing that when I had a low gear 4 speed truck before.

Re: Finally pics of my '65
i like this truck. really like the engine compartment i don't like chrome under the hood and that Chevy orange and satin black just look so good together. the only thing i would change is the wheels if it was mine. i put on the Chevy truck rally wheels on mine everything was new (rims, center caps, rings) total cost $450 and they look great.

Re: Finally pics of my '65
Actually yes, I do start in second right now, although she's turning some serious RPM's on the freeway, would love to get those down. By 30 I'm already in 4th gear. The bumper sticker was my idea, it's actually mounted on a magnetic sheet, so it's easily removed for cleaning. I thought something period correct would spruce it up and make it a little more unique, along with the vintage plates.

Re: Finally pics of my '65
The bumper stickers look new, I guess thay made them better wat back then. Lasted way longer than the "Dynamic Duo".
What caught my eye was the step incert, I'm adding two of them to my ride also. OR shoud it be like a horse? Only mount from the driverside?
