any1 heard of the oil pressure sender leaking badly?

i have been looking for the oil leak for over a month now, about the same time i put in the original sender trying to make the guage work again, i soon after noticed the leak. i cannot really pinpoint it, but it drips pretty bad. i looked and seems the highest wet point that i can find is the tip of the oil pressure sender, the bg fat one that kinda looks like a all-metal big hat or something. anyone had ths problem or know of them leaking?

Yep, they leak sometimes. Sometimes it's as easy as tightening them up. I have a Ford were the fitting for the sending unit was barely even threaded into the hole. If a little tightening doesn't do add some teflon tape to the fittings. That should take care of it for you.

its plenty tght and i did put the teflon tape. i think it may be leaking from the tip where you plug n the connector. my wiring in the back of the engine is coated with oil, and it drips pretty bad when running, but even with a flaslight and mirror i cannot actually see it doing this, but these are the only things up that high with oil on them.

Yep, Seen many leak from around the seal/rivet holding the wire spade connector on. Swap it out with another and you should be good to go, Also be careful using Teflon tape on single wire oil/temp units that require a ground path. I've seen it interrupt grounding making people think they got bad senders.

Had the exact same thing happen on my '87. When I pulled the old one off to replace, the little "tit" was slightly cracked and a small amount of oil was leaking out of it. New one is in place, and no more oil leak

Check your intake gasket too. That is up high, and can cause a pretty bad oil leak.

Agreeing with 71swb. Same area, prone to leaking, hard to see. Having said that, my leak was the sender.

Re: any1 heard of the oil pressure sender leaking badly?

I had a sending unit go on my Camaro and it was spraying so much oil that I had to power wash the bottom of the car to find out where it was coming from.
