1969 panel 4X4 396?
I saw this very original looking(faded gold paint) 1969 Chev panel truck, it was 4 wheel drive, sitting in an impound yard, I could not look in glovebox, but it sure looked real. The interior was original and ratty, and the front fenders with the 396 badge looked like they were born there. It this some older mod, or am I wrong in thinking 4X4's did not come in Big blocks?
This could be had cheap, I think, but my yard is so full of crap I dont really want another truck unless it something really worth somthing. ------------------ jku 70 C30 CST Longhorn 68k10 burb 69 K5 beater 43 willys GPW 40 Chev coupe 67 catalina

not original, is a fake truck
if its a factory 4x4 panel then its rare and i would try and get it if its not completely trashed out unrepairable in any form or way [This message has been edited by Fast68Chevy (edited March 24, 2002).] |

I need the glove box door!!!!
looking through the window, the floor appears unmodified, meaning the "hump" has the t-case handle opening and LOOKS like it was there, but....if the outside looks original and is fake...... It has like no rust, or dents, half the engine is gone, and flat tires, but overall solid. Interior looks all dirty and appears the engine parts are in the back, along with a ton of junk. Oh well, glove box or bust!

I suppose, $750 bucks is a good deal, so, now I have to lobby the wife.
I am easy to convince, but I have like a yard full of junk already....

im not saying its not a realr 4x4, it probably is, im just saying its not factory big block truck, unless the truck has been converted to or is sitting on a 4x4 chassis that it was swapped onto.
do the VIN and model number code start with CKE ? that will tell you that its original 4x4, and if so then its a desireable truck, big time..... i owuld try and get just a little more than just the glovebox door off it..... i guess you dont realize how few of these there were sold,.. Fast is right, no BB 4x4's were marketed, though with right connections a dealer may have been able to fanagle one out of Detroit (who knows?). Anyway a 4x4 panel is rare. Where is this? In CT or ME? I also have your 69 nose apart and stored in my storage area, Let me know when you'll be picking it up.

CPNE: I'll be around as soon as I can, I still have the email address, we just had a shutdown at work here so I have been working 7 days. In a couple weeks things will calm down, and I'll swing through.
I am not quite ready to publish the location on internet just yet!!!! ------------------ jku 70 C30 CST Longhorn 68k10 burb 69 K5 beater 43 willys GPW 40 Chev coupe 67 catalina

No problem. Not in my way anyway. Just curious on the panel, I have no desire for it. 4x4 panel seems like a Maine thing, yet impound lot sounds more like Connecticut. Interesting...

The VIN will actually start with KE or KS if it is facory 4X -- CE or CS if it is factory 2X. The extra leading C (as in the CKE in Fast's example) didn't happen until '72.
