photos of longhorn, almost done! 56k no no

ole blue gots some paint, and new vortek heads, cam,,,,,tons of little parts. finaly everything is back together and most the little bugs are worked out. last major thing is to get the orginal wheels back on her, i have the painted white dogdish hubcaps. i think that will top everything off great.

here is the normal walk around photos.

thats a fiberglass tool box door! no rust again, ever!

still need some letters....

lost some orginality here, it bugs me, but it runs lots better now. im keeping all the orginal stuff in case i just cant stand it any more lol

Lookin`gude!!!
I wonder if a visor for a Harley passing lamp (spot lights) would fit that tach rim.

Maybe but he did just have those sand blasted and painted back to original, I like it, it fits his truck well.

Hey dave as far as the originality of the motor goes, technically vortec heads are just new chevy heads so at least it's all original CHEVY stuff and unless someone knows what they're looking at, at a glance it looks original. That is if you don't get close and read EDELBROCK on the intake

After driving it now I want my own Longhorn

Looks great agree with white lettering the tail gate. Those stick on type the vendors sell look terrific. Don't worry about the carb not being stock it doesn't distract from your truck one bit..

Re: photos of longhorn, almost done! 56k no no

Great looking truck.

Was the accumulator on the AC a straight bolt on ?? I've been thinking about doing the same thing. One out of something like a 76 chevy truck or camero.

Did you have to end the POV line coming out of the evaporator?? Where did you put the orifus tube??

Any info on that setup would be great. Sorry for the bad spelling, its still early.

Re: photos of longhorn, almost done! 56k no no

I agree, the white painted bumpers, steelies and dogdish caps are the way to go. I just painted my 72 GMC 4x4 a similar color and kept the white painted bumpers as well.

I gotta say though dave... I do like the mod you did to the bumper... cutting out the center for a real hitch.

wow you noticed..lol.. i cut that out, and i had to build new brackets for the bumper too. guess the old man got rearended or something, they had some strange brackets in there that got in the way of the new hitch.

i still need to do some adjusting on the bumper, one side is slightly lower than the other.

oh ya andy,, lmao i LOVE the new tag line. we NEED to have some stickers made! its all about the 6 inches baby...

Re: photos of longhorn, almost done! 56k no no

lol!
I wanted it to say it's all about the extra 6 inches, but there wasn't enough spaced.
So for the longest time, it just said "It's all about the 6 inches".
Someone told me to see if there was one more space for the plus sign. Worked perfect.

I love it. It's just pervy enough to ID the pervs when they comment on it, yet innocent enough, becouse it is actually about the truck.

I agree 100%. The contrast will look great. This is the most important transformation to a look which is no longer seen.Remember when painting the hubcaps white, add the black trim and the blue bowtie(this detail often gets overlooked and is very important). Most every pickup today has some sort mag wheel on it, but how many have a painted white wheels with white hubcaps. The last base model Chevy pickup with painted hubcaps was in 1978.Also, how many pickups today have white lettering on the back of the tailgate? The standard tailgate with large letters offers a lot more contrast to the rear. I would use these "standout features" to your advantage.
