front clip exchange!!

Can anyone tell me what all I have to change to put a 68 front clip on my 69 swb pickup. Are the fenders the same?....I know the inner fenders are the same....and the obvious hood and grill are different. Is the core support different? All help is appreciated.

Re: front clip exchange!!

I think that the fenders and core support are different between '68 and '69. Is it a GMC or Chevy? And not that it should matter, but is it a Suburban or a Truck?

Re: front clip exchange!!

You'll need 90% of it, you need 67 or 68 Front fenders, 67-68 core support, 67-68 grille, 67-68 hood latch, 67-68 grille brace, 67-68 bumper to core support filler panel, & 67-68 hood. That covers everything you need, the only thing that does not need changed is inner fenders & radiator support to fender braces.

Re: front clip exchange!!

So how difficult is it to swap front clips? I have a complete 68 front clip that came with (not installed) another burb I bought and then sold minus the clip. I would love to put the 68 on my 69 as well.

Re: front clip exchange!!

What bolts need to be removed to take off the old clip in one piece? How many?

Re: front clip exchange!!

screws across front of cowl cover & 1- 1/2" bolt at either end of it, 2- 9/16" bolts at top of fenders under cowl cover on either side, 1 9/16"bolt at bottom of fenders either side, 1- bolt at inner fender to frame on inside edge of inner fender underneath truck, 6 front bumper bolts and 2- radiator support mounting bolts and 1 friend to help lift it off.

Re: front clip exchange!!

sorry that i'm being a bit lazy or i'd find the thread for you, but there is a thread in the FAQ forums with a step by step on how to remove a clip in one piece.

to pur your 68 clip, same thing, but in reverse.

btw, removing the windshield wipers is the hards thing of the whole process
