Well Gents, I am wondering if there is anybody out there who has put a richmond 5 speed in a 60-66 chevy. I am going to put one in my 66 and I am wondering what I may have to fabricate in order to make it fit. And what would I do about the drive shaft. Any help would be cool! Thanks.

Are you planning on keeping the original style bellhousing that mounts to the crossmember? Your driveshaft will need to be shortened. That length will be able to be measured once the trans is installed.

In reality, installing the Richmond 5 speed will be mostly the same as installing a Muncie M20,21,22 or a Borg Warner T10. There are a few members that have those in their trucks.

If possible I would probably keep the stock bell housing.

The only other thing I can think of is you'll need a Turbo 400 slip yoke for the back of the transmission. I have a Richmond Super T10 4 speed and it also uses the bigger yoke. My previous transmission was a TH350 and it used the smaller version.

Make sure if you are buying new to get a recommendation on which clutch to run with it - I thought oh I know the size of the clutch and now it needs 28 splines instead of 10 and it's an 1 1/4" shaft - I'll just walk into the parts store and get me a new one - even the boys at napa which usually do a pretty good job were less than helpful - apparently they can only searchs by year make and model. So I had my new TKO 500 just sitting there gathering dust for a couple of days

Check with Walker driveline in Talent. Great guy. He made my driveline for my TH400. Used same style U joints as stock so when replacing next time Napa or whoever would be able to look up easily. He does a lot more than drivelines too. He may even be able to help with clutch, bell housing questions.
