Happy Mother's Day!

Yep, when I think of my mom and a truck, yeah, I can do that, she drove my dad's '55 F-100 with a Buick Nailhead in it for years. One day driving me home from school she had a drag race at a stop light and won! Just to paint the picture, there was a 15 foot tripod orchard ladder in the bed! The cool thing was, this wasn't in her normal personality, she was pretty laid back and never said a four letter word, you know what I mean, for her to race this truck that was next to us was pretty far out of character so it of course is a wild memory of mine.

Well since i started this thread it wouldn't be right if i didn't add a story. So I post a pic of my truck the day I brought it home. The significance to mother's day is, that it was my wife and mother to all my beautiful babies who found it and convinced me to buy it.

She was coming home from her mom's after picking up the kids and saw it. She rushes straight home and says, "I found something let's go for a ride". Now I wasn't really looking for a project so this was a little odd. We drove by the PO's house to look at the truck and I start trying to talk myself out of it...

"i'm sure he wants a fortune"..."well let's take a look" she says. it $3500
"i'm sure it doesn't have a drivetrain..." I get under it...nope its there.
"We need that money for something else...", she replies, "for what?"

She finally ends the discussion by saying, "I know you feel bad about letting that other truck go (I let a 56 get away a few years ago by hemming and hawing until it was gone) and you're buying this truck, case closed."

So here is the truck the day I brought her home all thanks to my wife (and mom to my kids!).

Good stuff these women we hook up with.

At 15 my mom brought me over to my brothers friend to buy this truck with $200 paper route money.

I didn't even have a drivers license yet but only the learners permit.

Bought with paper route money in 1973 when I was 15. "Fan of most anything that moves human beings"
