Which Accelerator Pedal?

The cab on my 70 C10 does not have holes for the ball studs for the accelerator pedal. This leads me to believe it is a late 70's cab. I currently have the linkage for a pedal that mounts to the floor.
Would I be better installing the ball studs or switching to the 71 accelerator assembly? The engine has a Sniper EFI and a TH 400 transmission with a Lockar kickdown switch.

Thanks

Re: Which Accelerator Pedal?

By far the later floating pedal unless you are looking or something that looks original.

Re: Which Accelerator Pedal?

I just installed a application where a bell crank was used for throttle. Connecting to the 1972 pedal was so simple it was almost disappointing. No thought or effort needed.

Re: Which Accelerator Pedal?

There is a hybrid approach that I plan to use, 71/72 style floating pedal on earlier throttle setup. https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...40#post7871640

Exclamation Re: Which Accelerator Pedal?

The 1971/72 cable system was far superior over the 1967-70 rod system.

Re: Which Accelerator Pedal?

Not ideal , but I took the pedal off my '69 many years ago . Seems to work fine without it .

Re: Which Accelerator Pedal?

I've got a 67 with the floor mounted pedal.
I've had all the parts to convert it to the later style " floating" type. I think they look better and thought I'd like to have it.
I started down the road to the conversion but ran into a hiccup . That was about 15 years ago and I rarely even give it a thought when I'm driving the old girl.
Maybe when I retire.

Re: Which Accelerator Pedal?

I'm really leaning to the 71 set up. I'm not sure on the hybrid set up yet, fab work seems to bite me in the butt more often than not.
Looked at Lokar for a complete set up- nice but pricey......... I'm going to keep looking.

Thanks

Re: Which Accelerator Pedal?

I changed out the accelerator/throttle set up in my '68 C/10 Stepside. I used a 71/72 Gas Pedal and armature. Had to move the action outboard by an inch or so. Used a cable throttle. Much better Throttle response, and no jams or failures.

Re: Which Accelerator Pedal?

Any suggestions on the best kit to buy that is as complete as possible?
Looking at Lokar- but I don't like the price.
I want this project to be as simple as possible.

Thanks

Re: Which Accelerator Pedal?

I want to do this swap as well. The floor mounted go pedal reminds me of a racing arcade game from the 90's.

The lokar kit does look nice but like you mention is pricey and it doesn't include the cable.

Sorry, Buddy,
I've searched my Pictures in my Laptop. I ran thru the Gallery on my mobilephone and it's not there.
Must've got wiped.
It's in the Glovebox of the Orange truck, but I'm out of town and won't be home until the end of the month.
I'll look then.

As I recall the company was in Santa Rosa or Santa Clara CA.

Re: Which Accelerator Pedal?

Switch to the 71/72 cable type. If the left side motor mount breaks, which isn’t that uncommon, the throttle could stick on you and cause an accident. It’s easy and can be done with factory parts, with the exception of an adapter plate, which can be made or bought. Search cable throttle conversion and you should get a few threads to come up for reference.
