Re: Cheapest Place For Drums and Shoes???

Um I actually bought a front drum for the front of my 70 Burb 4x4 at autozone. Was really surprised that they carried it.This was 6 lug of course, but it wouldn't hurt to check as it wasn't too expensive...guy in a junk-yard want 35 bucks for one that had been sittin so long it was half buried in the dirt....it was cheaper than 35 at autozone..at least it was a few yrs ago....

I too was surprised my local Napa store had brake cylinders. Probably worth a call to your favorite local parts store.

Re: Cheapest Place For Drums and Shoes???

I just did my brakes front and rear. Not 3/4 ton, but should be comparable.

I price shopped all of the chain parts stores and Rockauto online. I ended up getting the hoses and wheel cylinders from Rockauto, and the shoes, hardware kits, and drums and O'Reilly.

I got all four wheel cylinders from RA for under $30 shipped. Parts stores wanted $20 a piece. Conversely, the drums were $25 a piece at O'Reilly's, and $35 at Rockauto after shipping was figured in.

Re: Cheapest Place For Drums and Shoes???

We have NAPA, Autozone, O'Rielly's and Advance Auto Parts in our area- all of them carry brake parts for these trucks- prices are decent.

I'd sure check locally first.
You will need to know what size of shoes it has, and possibly what size wheel cylinders are. .
Also the GVW off the tag on the drivers' kick panel can help, too, especially being a C20 or C30 since there are usually options for rear axle.
