C10 Shortbed Possible Buy

A friend of mine has this C10 Silverado shortbed that they don't want anymore and she wants it gone. These are just pics the seller sent me. Its a Texas truck so it shouldnt have any real rust. Doesent have a title but should have a mildly modded engine. The seller said it was left there by a previous roomate or something. It looks like it was cared for, not a crack in the dash either and was repainted at sometime. She doesent know what year or engine or anything. What should I offer for it?

So your thinking of buying a truck with no title from a person that doesn't own it?

What parts do you need off it? I would say $500 - $1,000 depending on what you need from it.
Maybe less if the history is questionable. It would suck to have the sheriff show up at your house and take that truck away from you because the PO reported it stolen. Even worse if the sheriff doesn't believe your story. Make sure you get a bill of sale and keep a good paper trail.

Well the current owner said it was abandoned and has been there a few years. I would like to buy it and if its good enough fix it to drive and use and if not then part it out.

If that's the case, "from what I hear" the safest way to buy it would be a bonded title that you insure for a dollar amount so if the original owner shows up for his truck you get your insured amount back.

That sounds good. Thank you. The owner is a good friend of mine and she is tired of seeing the truck and I would like to have it so it would be a win win if I could get it.

Re: C10 Shortbed Possible Buy

Has your friend made any attempt to contact the owner of this truck about getting it out of there? It looks like it was a pretty nice truck with just some clear coat peeling off of it.

Is that a homeade bed cover? I would like to have a hard flush mount for mine but seems like no one makes them anymore.

Re: C10 Shortbed Possible Buy

Hate to bring up old threads but I hate not finishing what I started either. The previous owners of this truck have the title to it and wanted it back from the lady who had it that I was going to buy it from. It is a good thing I did not buy it and get involved in a big mess but I did go look at it a long while ago and got photos. Was not perfect but not at all bad. It was a pretty neat truck and I really wish I could have gotten it. Oh well, can't have em all.

I hope she charged them storage fees , if they don't pay I would cut it up for scrap and I love square body chevy trucks , but I hate it when people leave there stuff on my property more .

Uffda, sounds like you did well to steer clear. That truck looks like a nightmare, not to mention the title. No title, no sale, period, end o story, keep walkin. It's one of the pillars of wheelin and dealin, along side "no payment plans, I am not a bank, buy it or don't".

Re: C10 Shortbed Possible Buy

I remember that truck being posted on craigslist. The seller was asking a pretty penny for a vehicle with no title. Good thing you didn't throw away your money...
