Drip rail question?
I started shaving my drip rails about 2"-3" at a time and was wondering about the gap being different around the upper half of the door. I have a picture also if someone could tell me if this is looking correct. If not what needs to be done different.
The gap is my big concern. What is everyone doing with this space? [img]http://www.boomspeed.com/ksmith23/Shaveddriprail.jpg[\img] Thanks, Ken

The drip rail isn't just on the outside. When you remove the drip rail there is part of it that is spot welded on the inside of the door jamb.
After you remove that you will have a larger gap between the door and jamb. What do you do about the gap? Here is another view, you can see where i have already welded the gap up but, between the weld and the ground part just to the left in the center is where the gap will be larger. Hope this is a little easier to understand.

How about body filler or you could weld precut strips to fill in the gap and return to an equal distance, imo.
Do a call on efabman or some of the gurus in the paint/body section.

Yep that's what you have to do now. Cut a piece and weld it in so you can finish it out. I left that piece you took out with the spot welds. I welded it on the inside portion also then finished out with METAL TO METAL body filler. This is some pretty bad $hit, but it is costly.

After I cut the first inch or so I seen rust behind the strip so I thought I may as well remove it to make sure I get all the rusted areas.
Its not really that bad but since the cab will be blasted might as will get to all areas. Thanks for all the info, shouldn't be that big of a deal. If you take your time its not as difficult as I thought it was going to be.
