Sooo..What ya git done this weekend?

Spent Saturday repairing racoon damage, then I went to a shrimp and crawfish boil for my wife's work. Since I ate to much and pretty much just rolled to and from the truck, , I put off all truck work till Sunday.

Today I spent time working on my electric pressure washer and decided it may become a shooting tarket for the neighbors.

Right now I am waiting on the EPA for my enviromental hazard dump . Nah, I just scraped huge thick layer of years of oil leaks off the frame areas. Then I sprayed her down in oven cleaner. While it soaked and bubbled I went over to a friend's and borroweded his gas powered pressurer washer and blasted the frame off. No more sludge, except what washed down the drive (I wonder if sludge is good fertalizer).

1st shot is it sitting and bubbling the easy-off. Last two are after the cleaning. I got to get me a REAL pressure washer.

Hopefully during the week I'll wire brush the frame and get it painted with the Eastwood.

Re: Sooo..What ya git done this weekend?

I planned on hitting a car show over in Vicksburg on Saturday, however, the weather had different plans. I spent the day "tinkering" under the hood and cleaning overspray off the engine bay. Since it did not rain this afternoon, I got the chance to take her out for a spin. I got a chance to put a few miles on the new suspension. Now that the speedometer is working, I am no longer stuck at the 169.4 mile mark that it had been for the past 16 months. Now we are sitting at 228 and counting!

Re: Sooo..What ya git done this weekend?

I managed to get this done:
Fri: rented tables for wifes yard sale, soccer scrimmage, went out to eat with family
Sat: wife had yard/girl scout cookie sale (it turned out to be me doing it because of the wind blowing too much), soccer game at 2pm, then father/daughter dance
Sun: watched a movie with family, soccer game and then got to work on truck!!!

Re: Sooo..What ya git done this weekend?

We just took posession of our new house on Monday, so we have been sorting through boxes, and trying to find a place for everything since moving in. It's a pile of work, but a good feeling to be in after 7 months renting, and we finally have real T.V., a garage, and Internet again!

Hopefully in the next week, I can get the garage organized, and get the truck back inside where it belongs.

Had to work Sat. morning. Put new shocks and belts on the 86 Sat. afternoon. Took my wife's grandmother home today. She'd been staying with us for a couple weeks.

68 short step, what kind of tank is that? How hard was the install?

Re: Sooo..What ya git done this weekend?

Saturday I got started on the truck 72 project afterburn, started around 10 sat morning and took off the bumper, grill, front clip, heater boxes, windshield, the whole interior(only good thing is the ranger bench seat in it) stripped the entire wiring harness out of the truck, as most of it was burnt or damaged. The best part was to find a rust free core support, rust free inner and outer fenders, and a 99% rust free cab(with some older questionable repairs as usual) Going to get the motor out this week and I checked the oil and didn't detech any water, the breather was still onit during the firefighters fun time, however will have to see about the motor once it is out and on the stand. Next is getting the cab cleaned up and some primer and paint in the engine bay and the hood I have for it, so I can start putting the wiring harness and heater boxes, and some type of sound deadener yet to be determined. Re: Sooo..What ya git done this weekend?

Got side tracked again. Last weekend it was with a load of big block engines and parts. This weekend it was working on a Ford Aerostar that I got for free. It was a good running/driving van until someone's daughter hit a truck stopped at a red light. Smashed the radiator into the fan/water pump and generally destroyed stuff under the hood. Got almost everything I needed to fix it off a van at a junkyard for 100 bucks. Got it back to running and driving shape. Now I just need a headlight bucket and bumper cover.

Went with the Texas Forest Service Wildland Fire Strike Team to protect the town of Canadian, Texas from a wildfire sweeping through. Stayed there and fought fire till Saturday, then drove back home. Sunday, too exhausted to do anything but relax.

Re: Sooo..What ya git done this weekend?

Didn't get a whole lot done on Saturday, had tons of errands to run which took all morning. Took back a friends Generator he loaned me back a few weeks ago when I was without power for 36hrs. Setup a new generator so we dont run into that situation again. Built and setup a laptop for a customer. Picked up some oak and steel for the pickup bed and managed to get some of that layed out, still trying to figure out the laying out the tunnel then it all comes back apart to route/stain/poly the wood and then do something with the steel, I havent decided yet to either powder coat or just use the Eastwood stuff on it yet, trying to get the rustic look out of the bed. Hopefully my triangulated wishbone comes in by the end of the week to get my rear suspension finished up so I can finish up the rest of the frame and laying in all my brake and fuel lines.
