Greasy Rags?

As I am looking all throughout my newly bought 69 C10 I see all these rags in places like the insides of the fenders and the cab corners. Did the factory put those there or was the previous owner just a slob?

Re: Greasy Rags?

Ha good question. I have always been bad about putting a rag for my oil somewhere out of the way under the hood...maybe the previous owner was worse than me

Maybe he thought that would prevent rust. Those areas are known for moisture and dirt/rust accumulation.

Re: Greasy Rags?

Is there a GM part number of those rags or a message saying only use GM approved lubricants?

Maybe he filled the rocker panels up with them too, I wish I would have though of that!

Re: Greasy Rags?

in my 69 the previous owner used the front inner fenders as storage or somthing, it had rags, funnels, power steering fluid, oil, coolant, and a bottle of JD

Re: Greasy Rags?

I see everyone laughing, PLEASE tell me is the insides of those panels rusting. I have a 49 chevy pickup with rust in most corners except one, Guess what was in that corner ? No Not a grease rag but a old oil can. Appears it was a good place to keep the spare Quart of oil, and it kept the moisture out. I guess I'm saying while we laugh he may be enjoying A RUST FREE TRUCK. Pictures please.

My truck also has the expanding foam in my cab corners. And cardboard underneath that. Rag was in the front driver side where the inner fender and grill meet. And cardboard on the other side. And rat/mouse turds everywhere!
