82 4x4 Updates

Have not been on here in a while but I have started working on the truck again. I got my carb rebuil, and it is running good for now. I have started on the body work side of things, right now I am in the process of priming the whole truck. Once that is done I am going to order the pieces that I need to complete the exterior and start working on sections of the body that just need work and not replacement. I just ordered some headers and 2.5" flowmasters to put on the truck. I am also putting together the build sheet for my 383 so I can start collecting parts for that. I will post pics when I am done but here are a couple.

Here is what it started at:

Here is a current shot as it sits:

Driver side hasn't been worked on yet. I am shooting to have it done by the end of the weekend.
Here is a video of the truck idling before the headers and flows:

I will post an after video.

Re: 82 4x4 Updates

Not too much more done to the body. I am taking the bed off this week so I can get behind the cab and the front of the bed. I am going to herculine the bed and celan and possibly paint the frame while the bed is off. Any suggextions on the paint to use will be greatly appreciated.

Got the headers on and added some nice plug wire looms to keep them off of the headers. Took off some uneccessary brackets and underhood stuff. I have to wait a week or so to get the exhaust pipe ran for the flows. Here are some pics of the engine bay.

Re: 82 4x4 Updates

I'd go basecoat/clearcoat. To me, that gets a great finish without a buttload of work. Primary colors will cost more because you can't mix two colors to get them. If it were me, I'd pull the engine and really clean up the engine and the engine bay. I used purple stuff to clean mine, it really does a good job. I'll post pics of my engine soon.

Re: 82 4x4 Updates

I am going to be rebuilding a motor here shortly to go in it and when I pull this one out I am going to clean up the engine bay. As for now this is as good as it gets.
